Good Shepherd Welcomes Family Medicine Physician, David Shanley, MD

HERMISTON, OR – Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) is pleased to welcome Family Medicine physician, Dr. David Shanley, to the Good Shepherd Primary Care Clinic located at 620 NW 11th Street, Suite 103, in Hermiston.

Dr. Shanley joins Angie Hayes, FNP, and JoDee Williams, DNP, at the Good Shepherd Primary Care Clinic, and all are welcoming new patients.  “The addition of Dr. Shanley helps to fulfill the need for reduced waiting times for access to primary care.  He is an excellent complement to the Family Medicine providers at GSHCS and those throughout our community,” stated Vice President of the Good Shepherd Medical Group, Troy LeGore.

What brought Dr. Shanley to Eastern Oregon was the opportunity to practice in a vibrant rural community.  “I am happy to fulfill the need for more primary care in Hermiston and the surrounding communities.  I look forward to setting roots down for many years to come and being part of this opportunity to positively impact the health of the people here.”

He also brings over 20 years of primary care experience that will benefit his patients. “I have practiced the past 20 years in different settings from the military (United States Air Force), urban, suburban to rural areas.  I appreciate the beauty of Eastern Oregon with all its outdoor activities so easily accessible.”

Dr. Shanley enjoys the challenge of caring for people for the majority of their healthcare needs and following their family long-term.  “The potential to care for generations of patients is very likely in this community and I welcome that,” he shared.  “My goal is to establish a full patient panel and be there for their primary care needs indefinitely.”

Unlike other medical specialists with focus on specific types of diseases or a particular part of the body, Family Medicine physicians can provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages, through all stages of life.  “I typically recommend that infants under the age of 6 months be seen by a pediatric specialist, but I will certainly see them if needed.”

The scope of his care includes preventative care, treatment of common medical conditions and minor surgical procedures.  “Coordination of care is also an important component of primary care with referral to specialists as needed,” he stated.  “Good Shepherd certainly has a vast array of specialties available close by, which we may refer to on a case-by-case basis, depending not only on the disease, but also the severity or comorbid (other) condition(s).”

New patients seeking care at Good Shepherd Primary Care Clinic should come prepared with their past medical history, including any medications they are currently taking and it is recommended that they bring those with them so that dosages can be recorded accurately.  New patients are also encouraged to enroll in Good Shepherd’s MyHealth Patient Portal where their appointment reminders, test results, billing and more are available at their fingertips.  Visit www.gshealth.org/myhealth to enroll today.
