ABOUT US

BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES AND THRIVING COMMUNITIES.

Umatilla-Morrow Head Start, Inc. (UMHS) has been a longstanding and trusted community-centered nonprofit since its founding in 1985. Reaching over 5,000 children, families, and community partners annually throughout eight counties in Eastern Oregon, UMHS provides a comprehensive range of programs in early childhood education, nutrition, and family support. We are a holistic support system that nurtures every aspect of a child's growth—from early childhood education and nutrition to comprehensive family support. Each program we deliver is designed with a singular purpose: to help children and families thrive.

CHAMPIONS OF COMMUNITY.

With administrative offices in Hermiston, Oregon, UMHS is recognized for delivering high-quality services, and we are often sought out as leaders in our approaches, methodologies, and processes that prioritize serving children, families, and communities. As a regional leader with statewide impact, our spirit of innovation and practice of collaboration has made us a go-to resource for co-designing, collaborating, and connecting with funders, supporters, agencies, school districts, peer nonprofits, and businesses to champion child and family service initiatives in our communities.

OUR COMMITMENT: COMPASSION AND CARING.

UMHS provides a continuum of programs that include Early Head Start, Head Start, preschool, and childcare services—making us one of Oregon’s largest Head Start and PreK service providers. Our reach extends beyond education, offering vital support through the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program, Healthy Families, Home Visiting, Child Care Resource & Referral, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). With a dedicated circle of more than 225 team members, UMHS remains steadfast in its purpose and commitment to the families and communities of Eastern Oregon.
